Post Transplant Day 315

+315

It was cold in FL this past weekend which made for some needed R&R. Saturday night Tim & I had dinner with dear friends that we’ve known and loved since we were 14 and in HS; the Ziemer’s. A bonus when the big kids are around to keep Tate company! Yesterday afternoon Tim and Drew drove to Cape Canaveral to watch a Space X payload rocket launch. Cool experience! Us girls ctually could see it on a much smaller scale from our balcony as well .

This afternoon we headed to a beach known for shark teeth. We did find some teeth and big shells. The beaches are so beautiful and all different. These waves were huge tonight. It was chilly as we definitely got more wet than planned, but so fun! Tate really is struggling to walk and sand and wheelchairs don’t mix so Tim set her up on a beach chair and gave her buckets of broken shells/ sand to sift through to find her own shark teeth. Keira & Drew took a long walk to find the big shells and I learned the waves are much faster than I, got soaked and dropped my phone in the ocean. That was after cracking the screen last week (first time in my life!) But..it still works!

Tomorrow afternoon Drew heads back to WI. A little bittersweet as he’s going back without Keira and Christmas break was nothing like we planned. But….. I see the blessings. Drew had quite a lot of quality time with Tate which I know was so impactful for her in particular. And we made some unexpected family memories here in FL! A beach trip is still a beach trip no matter the purpose. So much to be grateful for!

Keira is doing well. Feeling a bit less fatigued and only getting headaches when she does too much. She’s gotten a rash from either the steroids or anti seizure medication she’s on, so we’re looking forward to her discontinuing those. Her follow up is Wednesday. Her lead neurosurgeon texts us to check in. Pretty remarkable! He’s on Netflix 2nd episode of “A surgeons cut” if you’re curious about him. We feel so blessed she was in such capable hands! She has received many cards here in FL with some gift cards and so many sweet wishes. Thank you for loving her the same way you’ve loved Tate.
