Post Transplant Day 318

+318

Tim headed out today for an 8 am flight. Currently his delay is 6 hours due to plane mechanics. Internet and a computer transform the airport into an office. We’ll see if he lands back here tonight or makes it home. Aunt Jen (my sister) comes in tonight. Haven’t spent time with her in forever….looking forward to having her here!

Keira had a follow up appointment yesterday. Stitches were removed and she got to see a before and after mri. Pathology did confirm the tumor benign. These can grow back if any cells were left behind. Keira will continue to be monitored for life. 3 months she’ll have a follow up and new CT. Headaches have ramped up a bit again probably coinciding with more activity. CT tomorrow (Friday) and then likely the all clear to fly home Monday. We continue to be blown away at the caliber of care here. The level of attention through check in texts and genuine kindness would make you feel like these surgeons just must not be that busy, when in reality they see patients from all over the world. watch A Surgeons cut-episode 2 on Netflix if you haven’t yet. What was most amazing is the tv personality displayed of Dr. Q is truly him. So much passion for what he does and love for his patients. I am glad I didn’t watch it prior to Keira’s surgery. The extra, unexpected challenges that came with Keira’s and the risk of her stroking out hit too close to home. Thanking God daily that she is walking and talking! We also love Dr. Almeida.…there isn’t a better neurosurgery team. I’m sure Dr. JP will have his own episode one day! So much love and respect for these men!

We’ve laid pretty low for a couple days. Keira was worn out and Tates achey, swollen joints needed a break. But we are hoping to do a few fun things with Aunt Jen for what is hopefully our last weekend in Florida! We’re missing the pups and our own beds!
