Keira Update 8
+311
Please pray for our sweet friend Lilly. She remains very sick in the PICU as they continue to find more junk growing in her blood. We love you Lilly and are praying for Gods healing hand to touch you.
Yesterday we spent a little time on the beach by our house and found a local ice cream shop on ‘shake night’ Today we headed to black rock and Groot Beach about 45 minutes from us. Trying to enjoy the sun before the cold front moves through.
Keira is mentally and physically exhausted! She can’t make it more than a couple hours without a nap. She’s still battling some memory challenges but looks amazing and finally ate a bit more tonight!
Tate has an appointment with Nemours tomorrow morning! I’ve been rationing the fluids and tpn as I wasn’t sure if we’d get more. Looks like after tomorrow, we’ll have a Florida order and have what we need for the rest of our stay. She’s doing well but really hurting from all the movement. Ankles a feet are swollen and very very sore.
Proud of both the girls persistence. They have different challenges but both continue to push past the challenges. I can’t help but think how incredibly blessed we are that all this took place here. Learning more about how oddly located Keira’s tumor was, how much it was blocking the csf flow and ho quickly her symptoms were increasing in both severity and frequency, the bleeding that occurred during surgery, how attached it was to the memory areas of the brain, and her rare metabolic response to the anesthesia is a reminder that God cares for us through other people. The gratitude I feel towards Ben Ziemer who gave us the neurosurgeon contact can’t be summarized with a thank you. The caliber of team that accompanied Dr. Q from the other surgeons, anesthesiologists, icu team and nurses were all meant for Keira and her specific needs. I have gratitude for how this has pushed Tate and how we’ve all had to work together. Keira has a big recovery both physically and emotionally ahead of her yet and certainly Tate’s challenges are ongoing. Yet, I can see the good in this and feel gratitude for the way God has and continues to walk our family through. We are grateful for you all as well! K got a mailbox full of cards and some sweet packages. Thank you!!
