Day 93
Post BMT Day +30

In the chair! Out of the bed! Tate is working so hard to get back on her feet. I’m so proud of her! Nausea continues to be controllable with the right meds. Tate is trying to eat during the calmer moments. Better controlled nausea makes everything more manageable.

Yesterday she had her G-Tube switched out for one that fits better and Is much more comfortable. An I”Ill fitting G-tube creates granulation tissue that becomes sore and uncomfortable and can cause leakage. Tate felt instant relief with the change! We are grateful!

Tate’s dietician stopped by yesterday. She agreed to keep off the IV nutrition and G-tube formula feeds as long as Tate continues to progress in eating. She remains on iv fluids which takes some of the pressure off drinking. We are grateful!

Tate has been needing nightly magnesium infusions due to Mag wasting-caused by some of the big gun anti rejection meds she’s on. Today they added it on as a daily med to give her more consistent levels. The day they were ready to start daily scheduled BP meds due to the regular rescue doses she was needing, her BP dropped and has stayed manageable. Again….grateful!

Tate’s BMT Dr’s stopped by yesterday to “celebrate.” Her Dr. Is always reminding us to “celebrate every moment.” She is doing well, but this is a long road. We were reminded of her increased risk for various complications and that we shouldn’t wait to celebrate once everything is better. This is a long road. So, we celebrate today. We celebrate eating 1/2 a bagel. We celebrate sitting in a chair. We celebrate improving neuropathy in Tate’s hands and feet and celebrate more awake time. Above all, we give thanks to God for walking with us for every step.
