Yesterday was surprisingly busy for a Saturday! It feels we’re already moving in a positive direction.

Yesterday’s blood cultures haven’t grown as of yet and the specificity of the bacteria has come back. Tate seems to be on the correct antibiotics. The kicker is that this bacteria once again has come from her own body….translocated into her bloodstream to cause an infection. A bacteria that most of us can fight off, but with Tate’s weakened immune system, she just can’t. The challenge is how to prevent these.

Yesterday brought an ultrasound of her line, and a visit from our sweet friends as they were headed home after discharge. Tates naps are much more interrupted here, but headphones and an eye mask help!

On the docket yet is more blood cultures, an echocardiogram and a pain pump refill once the bacteria is fully cleared. Then home on iv antibiotics sometime this next week. It’s looking like Tate should be able to keep this line. However, a new week brings a new team and new opinions. We just want whatever will keep Tate the healthiest.

Fun fact: Tate had hiccups on repeat all day yesterday. She rarely gets them, but started a new medication through her J tube. It’s a weird coincidence.
