We were one day shy of closing out January without an admission….
Tate has another bacterial blood infection. After a week of worsening “crummy” from her baseline, including sleeping 20 hours/day and increased pain, blood cultures were sent yesterday and came back positive early this morning.
Tate is on extra pain meds outside of her usual and a couple IV antibiotics. By Monday, we should have a more concrete plan in place.
Tate was scheduled to have her IT pump refilled this AM. That is put on hold as the risk of bacteria infected blood getting into her pump and spine during the refill is too great. To think we easily could’ve proceeded, not knowing Tate was bacteremic, with potentially dire consequences definitely has given everyone pause. SO thankful for all the caring hands today.
This is a tight knit world when you overlap stays with favorite friends. We ran into Tate’s friend yesterday at North while getting cultures and she’s here overnight at Main after surgery today.
The afternoon/evening after getting to our room was super busy trying to get everything in order before the weekend. But also because when friends see Tate’s name on the census sheet, they come by with smiles. It’s comforting to come to a place you’d rather not be and feel loved and missed.
