Day 2
Today turned out interesting. After taking away the every 3 hour extra medication doses from the IT pain pump and replacing those with IV dilaudid, and giving her IV steroids every 6 hours, it seemed Tates blood pressure was holding steady until this afternoon when it suddenly dropped to 77/47. Fluids and steroids brought it back up, but as Tate was pretty sleepy and none of it seemed very clear, there were lots of observers.
It seemed Tate’s door revolved today and the day ended even more muddy when blood cultures that were drawn last night turned positive meaning Tate has a bacterial blood infection. This is so disappointing as it feels like a red herring to all the other stuff going on. It could explain some but probably not all as cultures two weeks ago were negative. But it seems we’ve caught it early and for that, I’m grateful.
The Denver U girls soccer team stopped in today. What an amazing group with huge personalities. They definitely were a bright spot in the day.
