Remember that lesson in flexibility!? We’re not going home.

Friday is now the earliest for discharge. Tates electrolytes are bouncing a bit and they are concerned about refeeding syndrome which peaks at day 2-3. I un-decorated this morning as I thought we were headed home. There’s actually quite a lot of special events going on here but due to droplet precautions and continuing to test positive for RSV, Tate doesn’t get to participate. So we’re digging deep to try to find the Christmas cheer. BINGO is always fun and is every Wednesday afternoon. This is 3 weeks in a row.

Homecare came to review/teach home antibiotic pushes and the TPN/Lipids pump. We have an amazing homecare pharmacist who has gotten us down from two pumps to one with lots of alterations to the Tpn formula and lots of math. Grateful! I remember how overwhelming this all felt the first time. Not so overwhelming this round, but comes with some big emotional baggage. Tate definitely had some frustrated tears this am with the delayed discharge and return of all the med paraphernalia to go home with. Time allows adjustment and heals the heart a bit.

Our mayo genetics telehealth appointment had to be cancelled today. Insurance doesn’t like double inpatient/outpatient appointments. We’ll try again after Christmas.

My sweet mama got her port last week and starts chemo tomorrow to knock this cancer out. Hate that I’m not there with her. Love you mom.
