Tate isn’t so happy about it, but she had surgery today to place a new central line. They can’t put it in the same place and actually switch sides. Another scar, another story. The line surgery is simple in our world. The emotional toll and what it represents is more significant for Tate especially. They’ll restart TPN again tonight and if her electrolytes cooperate, we may get to go home tomorrow! Hospital life is a good lesson in flexibility….both negative and positive!

ID was in today to discuss the fungal lab that came back positive again. It’s no longer considered a false positive. This is concerning. A chest CT was discussed but they anticipate it’ll look bad from the RSV and not give us anything concrete. So the plan is to monitor with weekly repeat labs with a chest CT down the road. If the level rises, they’ll treat it. Our hope is that her body is strong enough to hold it at bay and eventually kick it out. Time will tell. The treatment isn’t easy so they want to be sure before we put Tate through all that. But disseminated fungal can also be life threatening, so they’ll watch closely. We feel good about this plan and are so happy we won’t be inpatient over Christmas for another 21 days to treat it.

We’ve had some sweet visitors the last couple days. After going through transplant during COVID when we were allowed no visitors, we’re so grateful to see faces we love.
