June 9
Day 13
We are home!
After a night needing IV pain meds, I wasn’t sure we’d make it home today. But Tate’s pain Dr. came in and increased her IT pump basal (continual) rate and gave her a bolus. She tolerated that and he came back and programmed her pump with 3 self boluses she can give each day. This is down from the 6 pre admission, so we’re hopeful it’s the right concentration of meds to keep her blood pressure and her pain in check.
Tate was taken off a medication today that was treating her high blood pressure while we were adjusting all the meds. Her BP was perfect before discharge, but at a bedtime check tonight, she’s running quite high again. So, not even 7 hours out and I’m waiting on a call back from the inpatient team that treated her. All we want tonight is uninterrupted sleep in our own beds.
Thank you for all the love and support this past two weeks. We feel so blessed to have so many we’ve never met care so much.
