Day 12

Yesterday’s procedure took 1.5 hours instead of 30 minutes. More complicated than anticipated, but successful in clearing the pump catheter and Tate did great. She was finally able to eat and drink by 6 pm and was sleeping for the night by 7 pm.

Today the PCA pain pump was weaned rapidly and Tates internal pump was turned up a bit more. She’s still relying on oral morphine and IV dilaudid for pain and iv clonidine for blood pressure and feeling very weak with restless legs. The goal is to ditch the IV dilaudid, convert to oral meds and reassess her IT pump in the morning and hopefully head home! We are so so close! Things aren’t perfect yet with pump calibrations but we are worlds better from where she was both when we came in almost two weeks ago and definitely with the reaction on Wednesday. Enough has happened to make it feel like we’ve been here a couple months! I’m amazed at everything that has been thrown at Tates body in the last couple months really. She really is so strong.
