Day 11
It has been a bit of a challenge keeping Tate’s blood pressure and heart rate in check and keeping her comfortable. So thankful for modern medicine to keep her safe. Pain is pretty well controlled with the PCA but the medication that is still being continually pumped into her spine is still leaving her nerves very ornery. Her legs feel very restless and itchy/tingly. Just very uncomfortable. She’s still weak and unsteady on her feet.
The new medication arrives today from a compounding pharmacy in Florida. It will still have a teeny tiny bit of the medication in it that she reacted to with the hope that it’ll be enough to significantly help pain and not enough to cause a reaction. We are nervous but really praying this is the answer. She won’t be able to bolus with this medication but for now, we focus on today.
This afternoon Tate is scheduled in the OR under anesthesia to have the medication swapped out and the catheter that goes into her spine cleared. This will speed up getting the old medication out of her system and the new medication in by 24 hours and hopefully expedite relief and getting home. We can’t wait to be home on our own schedule. These every 2 hour vitals and meds around the clock are wearing us out.
