Day 4
We’ve been in the hospital the last 3 years during this last week of May. Seems to be how we like to ring in summer.
I thought today was going to be okay when Tate woke this morning and asked for food. But food intake didn’t go much further than a few bites today and the day was rather rough mostly due to pain and just feeling meh.
Care conference happened this afternoon with 5 different specialists from Tates team. It sounds like it was successful at getting everyone on the same page. The most pressing issue is making sure this infection gets taken care of. Tates central line seems to be clearing which has never happened before for her with a line infection always resulting in a procedure to remove and a surgery to place a new one. Gram negative bacteria isn’t as sticky, so we’re thinking we can save this line. This would be a nice positive.
We tried switching from iv dilaudid to sublingual morphine and it was rough but logistics got her WAY behind. So we’re strapped in for what could be a bumpy night. The rest is just ongoing details of monitoring and adjusting as we see where things land after the waters clear from this infection.
Keira and my sweet friend Elizabeth came by today. It was so nice to hear a few giggles from the girls and get a hug from a friend.
