We made it up to our room about 4:30 this morning. Tate was tachycardic and had high respirations and Blood pressure last night. They wanted her vitals stable before sending her upstairs. Tate really was struggling with uncontrollable movements in her legs especially and did spike a fever once her meds wore off. Iv Benadryl helped stop the vomiting and to control the movement disorder. It wears off and the nausea/vomiting wants to return and her body gets twitchy. I regularly want to think (or hope) the movement disorder diagnosis must be wrong, but it follows the pattern of being exacerbated by physical stress. I get regular reminders that it’s simmering under the surface.
Tim, Drew, TJ and Grandma B spent some time with us today. It was lovely to see Tate animated with her Dr’s and family. It was the right med combination for awhile. She later faded, was hurting and feeling sick. Her temp is climbing a bit again and she is now sleeping.
Today happens to be Keira, mine and my Dads Birthday. Happy Birthday to both Keira and my dad! 3rd Birthday in a row in the hospital for me, but still surrounded by some of my favorite people for a few hours. Keira’s Birthday wish was for us to spend it together. I won’t get to see Keira today but Tim and Grandma B and Drew will get to cheer on her soccer team in a match tonight. Keira is our for 3 more weeks with a sprained MCL, but I know will still love to have her family there. Even more thankful for the lunch I got to have with her yesterday.
The earliest we could be discharged is Friday as long as cultures don’t grow and Tate gets to a stable place for travel. I was reassured that there are other ways to get her medically safe back ti Colorado. Tim will fly home Friday in order to work and we’ll figure out the details for Tate and I as they unfold. Thank you for the prayers and support as we deal with the unexpected away from home. I was given a foam mattress and cozy sheets to use by a once stranger and now friend. So grateful for the love, support and prayers!
