Transplant -1

Day 62

Transplant -1

“Rest” day is quite relative considering Tate had a pretty physically exhausting day. She went from a really rough night to the worst GI day we’d had yet. Considering she hasn’t eaten in a week and hasn’t been able to keep down even a sip of liquid this past week, puts “worst day yet” into context. Her body was using every opportunity and any which way it could to try to rid itself of all the poison that has been pumped into it. She’s now on precautions meaning among other things that we can’t do laundry here. Not a great combination.

It was the worst GI day until …..about 4:00 this afternoon, her team came up with one last anti nausea med…emend. She can only receive 3 doses in total. It didn’t quell the nausea, but it did stop the vomiting. Thankful for that! Glad there’s two more doses to at least get her through tomorrow.

Tates Dr. is reassured that her kidneys are working fine and the fluid retention is med related. They’re hoping she’ll clear the excess fluid on her own. If not, she’ll get lasix post transplant. One of the anti rejection meds she’s on can cause high blood pressure which Tate is now receiving additional meds for. That med list just continues to grow! Take a look at all the lines attached to her!

Tomorrow is Tates re-Birthday. Transplant Day! If you have shirts, wear them and post a photo on her page here. She picked up her phone for the first time in many days and was overwhelmed with all the messages, texts, etc. I can’t wait for her to feel the love tomorrow. We love our Tribe!
