Tate finished chemo today! Tomorrow will be a “rest” day before transplant on Wednesday.
Tate is really struggling with back pain. We initially thought it was muscular as continual vomiting with absolutely nothing in your stomach jarring on a body. But Tates weight went up by 3 pounds from her morning weight to her evening weight. You can see how much more puffy her face looks. Fluid retention from the chemo isn’t unusual. Prayers that her kidneys are still doing what they need to and the back pain is indeed muscular.
Tates counts dropped significantly overnight. Her white count is just about at zero. Rbc and platelets have a ways to go yet. It’s 100% expected and is the goal. Yet, after watching her labs for years and regularly praying for low counts to come up, it just feels disconcerting. The risks that come with it are serious and real. The side effects this past week were/are tough. But the life threatening aspect of this BMT starts now. Dear Lord, wrap your protective shield around our Tate. ❤️🩹
