1 year + Keira Update 2
Quick update on Keira. Thank you for all the prayers for her. MRI looks good brain wise. What came back as a surprise is an inflamed liver. Keira’s bilirubin and liver enzymes are high and continued to climb with a repeat draw on Thursday. There are other labs pending yet, but it could explain the fatigue and vomiting, nausea and lack of appetite. She’s headed ti a hepatologist.
Keira’s Mayo team would like her back in Florida. like this coming week. That isn’t possible for us with Tate right now too and just life that is planned. We’re hoping to quickly (relative) get her into a cognitive neurologist here at university hospital down by children’s. She has offfers to be seen by neuro oncology and the chair of neuro surgery at Children’s (perks of having such a broad team for tate,) but the bigger issue is what seems to be damage or slow recovery of the memory center in her brain (fornix.) So…we are praying for a quick intake with a team here to get her access to therapy. Keira’s FL neurosurgeon told me that although, he’d hoped she’d be in a better place by now, Keira has a huge win on her side. Her brain is young and has high plasticity. We are praying complete healing is Gods plan for her.
The pics were fun for some giggles amongst some tears. After getting off a FT call with the boys, Keira was missing her brothers. We have an ongoing family group chat, and these pics made for a fun addition. Tim had this blanket made for me during transplant so I could take the family with me. Family is Everything. Thank you for the prayers and love.
