Cultures still remain negative. The likelihood that they will grow becomes slimmer as we near 24 hours. At 48 hours of no growth, they’re considered negative. Tate is still receiving iv antibiotics and vomiting has stopped. She ate a few bites tonight and was awake for a couple hours today. Her coloring isn’t great and she’s definitely not feeling well, but it seems like we’re headed in a better direction. Her labs shifted unfavorably in a 6 hour timeframe. We’ll see if that continues with tonight’s draw. Tate was having some strange neuro movements again this morning into the afternoon which now seem to be gone. Always lots of potential theories, little definitive answers.
I spoke with both Tate’s geneticists this last week. Tate had come up in their rounds, so a plan had already been laid. We had run a full exome sequence back in 2021. In light of everything post transplant, they’d like to run a full genome sequence. Outside of the NICU, these aren’t done often, so the challenge will be getting insurance to cooperate. I was so comforted to know that Tate is still being discussed amongst many specialists. Worse than no answers is to be forgotten.
