She wants normalcy

This smile represents a brief reprieve today from plenty of yuck. We’re obviously still here. Scope found a small ulceration at the base of her esophagus. Explains the pain she’s been having under her sternum since our last discharge two weeks ago. But also is reassuring that it’s healing and things really look good in that area.

Bone marrow biopsy was uneventful. We don’t expect to see anything outside of the mosaicism that we already know is there. Praying for no surprises.

Epidural isn’t working well thus far and Foley has failed contributing to severe back and abdominal pain.
Lastly Tate spiked a fever this evening. We’re now waiting on blood cultures and praying it was her body’s way of fighting back and not an infection brewing.

Today also revealed just how much of an emotional punch this is having on Tate. She’s really great at holding it all together until she just can’t anymore. She’s terrified of another long stay. Of not getting to go home again. Of a failed transplant and everything in between. She wants to be a freshman and worry about what to wear and who will see her and go to HOCO and be in shows and just hang with friends. She wants normalcy. She desperately needs a break. An earthly win and a body to just cooperate for one day.
