Post BMT Day +98

It was so nice to wake up with both my girls here. Keira and I got a little yoga in and she headed to work and Tate and I to PT.

Tate had her first J tube trickle feed last night and tolerated it well! She did amazing in PT and added in some “real” strengthening exercises. She’s rocking the stairs and showing more stamina. We got to see two of our favorite nurses, Ash and Katie. I saw more smiles out of Tate today than I’ve seen in awhile. Just seeing them and Tate getting to hang with her PT, Caitlin, was what she needed today. She played Bingo in SeaCrest Studios and was invited to represent Childrens Colorado in a seacrest studios collaboration with the Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Tomorrow Tate gets to ask Charlie Puth a question on air!

We came back home and Tate finally ventured outside after several invitations from Nathan. As I sat in the grass and soaked up some vitamin D, I felt the happy tears coming. This day was so overdue. Tate has been feeling pretty down with the slow physical recuperation. Her default would’ve been to come back and take a nap after PT. I could see the fatigue on her, but she’s pushing herself to find some new normalcy and joy in the basics of daily life. We headed over to Nathan and Miranda’s for Lego Batman movie afterwards. So so grateful for the unexpected friendships God puts in our path. Tate has never been “too old” to spend time with younger kids. It was fun to see Nathan’s joy in having a friend to race around with.

Tomorrow is a big day. Echocardiogram, pulmonary function tests, labs, bone marrow biopsy, bmt clinic and Charlie Puth interview. All followed by virtual teen night at Brent’s Place. There’s a teen girl who happens to be in the other Brent’s Place building that Tate is connecting with. This is such a unique and lonely journey for a teenager. It’s such a blessing for them to find someone else that just understands it all. Feeling so much gratitude tonight for all the little blessings that are a huge boost to our everyday life here.
