Post BMT Day +97

We met our new providers with intestinal rehab in the GI clinic today. Tate woke again with extensive stomach pain and frequent bathroom trips for the fourth day in a row, so the timing of the new clinic was good. A new formula was chosen and tonight we started a 5 ml/hr J tube feed. It’ll run for 12 hours while the tpn continues to run for 18. Tate is nervous as we’ve never had G tube feeds that didn’t cause nausea, vomiting and pain. But this is the first go with the J tube and a formula feed. Bypassing the stomach completely, I anticipate it’ll go well. It’s literally a drop every 10 minutes. As we work up on formula, we’ll eventually be able to decrease the tpn. We ended the appointment with an abdominal x ray. Despite the diarrhea, there’s always concern that Tate is completely backed up. Todays x Ray looked better than it has in some time. The current meds seem to be keeping things in check. I’m super grateful for the IR Team and they were incredibly kind. Trying to get a new team caught up with the history is exhausting but I have confidence we’ll get there and make progress quickly.

We were scheduled with pain team today too but missed that appointment as GI and x Ray ran long. Tate was relieved to have one less stop today and if I’m being honest, I was too. We caught Galaxy, one of the therapy dogs on the way out which was a fun bonus.

Keira came this afternoon. We addressed some graduation announcements, picked up dinner and watched “Marry Me.” One of the cutest feel good movies I’ve seen in a long time. Spiegelberg girls give it two thumbs up! It was so nice to have what almost felt like a normal evening.
