Today was a procedure day with anesthesia. Tate’s pain Dr. blocked 3 out of the 4 nerves in both Tate’s knees and flooded them with steroids to calm the inflammation. The steroids won’t kick in for a few days and the block only lasts 12 or so hours. Very temporary, but it worked!!!! Tate was able to walk without significant knee pain or a limp for the first time in well over close to two years! We are SO SO thankful. Because this worked, Tate will have a procedure done to destroy those same nerves for much longer lasting pain control…..up to 6 months! This definitely doesn’t erase her bone pain, or the other joints, but to relieve the knee pain is huge. Thank you Jesus! We are so excited and happy for this.
Tate can already feel the block wearing off which feels a little defeating to have the relief reversed so fast. But hope for a more long term solution lies ahead!
On a Keira note (can you tell she doesn’t like me posting her pics…) she has already tried an oral rescue med and injections with minimal relief for her migraines. We will patiently wait for the daily med to prevent and have one more rescue med to try. But she says she’ll take a little relief over none.
