Today brought a shift in plans. Tate spiked a higher fever today initiating central line protocols with cultures and an additional 48 hour admission. However, even without that, they weren’t going to discharge and instead, a lot of discussion centered around surgery. Tate is now scheduled for surgery on Friday. This could happen Thursday if there’s a cancellation. There’s a two day stay after surgery so the earliest discharge would be Saturday. However, with respiratory symptoms and a fever, it could all get pushed until those symptoms are gone. And of course, all of it hinges on cultures staying negative! So….in light of all this and the fact that even if we weren’t in the hospital, Tate feels crummy, our only option is to cancel her party. We’re sorry to not have the chance to thank many of you in person.
We did get to see lots of joyful faces today. Grandma and Grandpa B flew in from WI, Two of our favorite 9 th floor nurses (2month admission pre-hospice,) Kelsey and Kelly surprised us with a visit, Abbey from Regis college softball team came with peach rings, and Keira came with all the essentials from home. Our hearts are full tonight.
