Day 7

A teaching hospital and so many co morbidities means lots of faces stopping in every day. And lots to coordinate. Feels like things are starting to come together to get home in a few days. We are starting to wean steroids and the new med for Tates IT pump has been ordered. An updated infectious disease plan means antibiotics for the blood infection should finish Wednesday night now.

Tate has been battling migraines everyday and continues to need both oral morphine and IV dilaudid on top of what’s in her IT pump to manage pain. Her steroids need to transition from IV to oral. And she’s battling more tremors today which we hope is just from the infection/stress on her body.

There’s a new program called build up steam here at the hospital. A mobile Lego cart comes to your room where the kids can build a Lego robot. It was a fun distraction for a bit this afternoon.

We had a nurse today that was a bright spot and we learned will be volunteering at camp the same week Tate will be there. What a fun coincidence!
