Day 55

3/26

Yesterday was a rough one. Told we were potentially going home with either palliative or hospice managing Tate’s pain was something we knew was possible but not something we wanted to emotionally wrap our hearts around. Today we learned that palliative, although very present in Tatum’s current situation, wouldn’t be able to step in for pain mgmt. We aren’t sure just yet what the home plan will look like.

Tate did transition today from IV to liquid dilaudid through her G tube. And we went up again on the pain patch that goes in Tates cheek. Monday we’ll max out on that medication. Today wasn’t easy on Tate, but she powered through better than anticipated. Nights are the hardest. Were hoping for some sleep tonight.

Tomorrow Tim and I have a virtual trial for medical management of Tates care. Turning 18 being as medically complex as Tate means she still needs support. In our world, that requires all things legal. We’ve prayed a lot over the best steps moving forward. Our prayer for tomorrow is that the best options for Tate are decided. I’m so ready to be through the stressful legal stuff on top of Tate’s daily needs.
