Day 47
Today was one of those hospital mornings when you open your eyes, you’re instantly reminded of the reality you’re sitting in and you just want to turn over and stay that way. Tuesdays are a new team for the week. We’ve been here long enough now that within each “new” team, there’s familiar faces too. That helps. And having a favorite nurse helps even more. The unit was wild today. This floor is a mixture of med surg (Purple) and med psych (Orange.) Theres lots of hurting families and especially teens up here. A pediatric hospital puts life in perspective pretty quickly.
Tate’s antibody test for the antiphospholipid clotting syndrome came back positive again, doubled from when it was first discovered 6 weeks ago. This isn’t happy news and not what we were expecting or hoping for. Once again, this is considered rare and can be challenging to manage. Hematology and rheumatology manage this one. For now, the basic plan is that Tate stays on Lovenox shots.
