Day 14
Quick update:
Tate got through the MRI. We almost bailed, but she rallied and we were thankful to check that box. Brain MRI remains unchanged from two weeks ago. Mild atrophy and enlarged ventricles. Cause could be steroids, chronic illness or brain related disease process. The unchanged MRI doesn’t rule out anything but an acute process within the last two weeks. So we continue to wait.
There are still two viral labs pending, but the team does not feel either virus is likely the source of the inflammation. So, we are left with some kind of disease process. There are still 30 neuro labs out being processed that should start to come back in about a week. Neurology should come by this afternoon to shed some light on a plan moving forward while we wait for the labs. We are hoping there’s a way to do this from home in a manageable way, but they will need to determine what is safe. We see things progressing which feels daunting and scary. Tate struggles in those timeframes but doesn’t remember a lot. The burden falls on those who love her and directly care for her. So we need to make sure the plan is solid to address multiple scenarios.
This morning was rough. I was done by 10 am. Thankful for Tim so I could get a walk outside in. Tate is doing much better this afternoon. This is the wax and wane of whatever is going on inside her precious brain.
