Day 21

Today was a tough day on an emotional level. Tate has doubled her opioid use since we came in with very little response. Pain continues to persist and worsen particularly in her legs. Currently the pain team is afraid to up the narcotics available as she’s already metabolizing at levels that would flatten a very large man. That puts the onus back on the medical teams to either find the true source or Check enough boxes to land us back in disease progression to find a long term solution.

There’s been lots of discussion with neuroimmunology, bmt, rheumatology and more to decide what’s next.

We are currently looking at a new central line but once again, the additional tests are being debated.

We have our favorite purple team senior resident back this week. She’s smart and talented and kind, and wanting to light some fires. We have an amazing attending on too. Tomorrow is Friday and we’ve already been told that a care conference and line change won’t happen until next week. We’re really hoping this will be the last weekend in the hospital, but there’s still so much that needs to happen this next week.
