Tate had anesthesia today for a procedure to work on the inflammation in her hips. We were able to piggy back a new GJ (feeding) tube onto Tate’s procedure today with Interventional Radiology. We had an appointment with Tate’s special care Dr. yesterday and he quickly organized this. Thank you Dr. Fox!

Procedure/Anesthesia wise today was about as simple as it gets in Tate’s world. We had Dr. Sharkey, one of our favorite anesthesiologist’s, to put her to sleep and we knew today would be smooth sailing with our beloved Dr. ZB, Tate’s pain Dr.

We also knew today we were saying goodbye to ZB. He heads out of state in a couple days for the toughest of family reasons and our hearts are broken with him. We love this man and are grateful to him beyond words. He’s so much more than just a Dr. to us. Because of his efforts and care and persistence, Tate is walking, eating and we have a way to keep up with her pain the best way possible. He’s been by our side during some of Tate’s worst days over the last several years. His gentle, kind, genuine manner is irreplaceable and he will be missed hospital wide. I trust his care and judgement implicitly and always feel that everything will be okay when he is involved. He’s one of the few that Tate trusts wholeheartedly. There were lots of tears shared all around today. And lots of hugs and smiles too. There is real heartache being felt by Tate and I that has been present for a couple weeks now. We’re losing part of our medical family and we are so so sad. Uneasiness comes with change and learning to trust another. But because we love him, we want the best for him and his family and our hearts and all our prayers go with him.
