We are home! We made it by 6 PM. It’s always so nice to be home. Tim and Keira and the pups were waiting for us along with the sweet packages that were sent. Thank You so much! Tim saved them for us as we kept thinking we were coming home. I want to say Thank you again for all the gift cards that were sent around Christmas . I save them for our hospital stays. Living in the hospital is expensive and they help so much.

Coming home after a long stay is always an adjustment and a lot of work. I appreciate the break I get from the nurses so much. And they are great company! We’ll get re-situated and get Tate back on her feet. In my heart, I envisioned Tate walking out of the hospital after her surgery with a little pep in her step (at day 4-not day 20 ) She’s not there yet, but it’s what we’re working towards.

Yesterday was a hard end to an emotionally draining admission. Tate may be 16, but that comes with years of medical trauma. It’s hard to work through that when you just keep adding more. It showed loud and proud yesterday and was difficult for all to see-even the staff. We’re always trying to make choices that make things more tolerable. We have official notes from the IR team that next time needs to be different for Tate. Some of this is unavoidable. Thankful for a team that really cares. The patience and compassion I saw exhibited by staff yesterday was phenomenal.
