We had more family time! Tim married our niece in Montana this past weekend. We are getting good at doing the medical travel. Honestly, Keira is a second set of hands. She can run IV fluids and G/J feeds on the pump. Flush lines and dole out meds. She is Tate’s bestie so is always able to comfort her too. The wedding was beautiful. Time with Grandma Sandy, my bonus sisters & brothers and all the cousins is what made it so special. And we made it successfully in a remote area in Montana with no emergency helicopter rides back to CO. Always a plus!
K is also a trooper. Her migraines continue with a vengeance and the vomiting had a return trip this past week. She finally sees neurology here in Colorado! So so grateful to have finally gotten in.
Tate goes to camp today for the week. It’s called Round up River Ranch and is a medical camp. This is BMT, Hem/oncology week. It is staffed 100% with a medical team specific to the dx of the week. Tates cabin will have a “counselor” that is also a RN to handle all the meds, IV fluids, J tube fluids/formula, dressing changes and flushes, etc. They only take a couple kids each week with central line needs. There arent many options for camp for a kid with all the medical paraphernalia like Tate, so we are grateful. It’s a beautiful facility in gorgeous Gypsum, CO. Funded by the Paul Newman Foundation. So, go buy that salad dressing!
Tatum is a lot of nerves with a bit of excitement. She doesn’t know anyone going and is really struggling with pain. She was hoping to have more stamina and strength and not need that wheelchair. I can’t remember the last time she and I were apart for any length of time. I do know she’ll make friends quickly and create beautiful memories despite any challenges. We are so grateful for this opportunity for her! I can guarantee I’ll miss her more than she misses me! (As it should be! )
