Today is wrapping up a full week. Keira just went back to anesthesia to get ready for an endoscopy. We started our day at 8 this morning with tests and labs. And were able to fit almost everything needed this week. GI isn’t suspecting something in particular, but wants to make sure they’re not missing anything. We saw neurology earlier this week and the two teams are working together to create a plan.
Testing so far has confirmed what Keira is already experiencing. The hope is getting on top of these migraines will ease all other symptoms. Meds will take a few months to fully work but she has several rescue med options too.
Thanks to “Uncle Ben” Ziemer, we had an insiders look at the brain lab today. This is one of the largest National brain banks and focuses on neurodegenerative movement disorders. The girls got to touch a frozen brain that they were thawing for testing. There’s rows of freezers holding brain halves that are tagged and categorized, 8,000 brains!; as well as other biomedical samples at 80’C. Really a fun experience!
We head home tomorrow! Tate has a procedure Tuesday as well as several appointments. Looking forward to some normalcy, which I guess this is it!
